The 22 autonomous trolleybuses purchased with 70 million lei in grant funds have arrived in the country. They are parked at Ciolpani, at the supplier's headquarters, and will be moved to the Bucureștii Noi depot after the final adaptations have been made, the Bucharest City Hall announced.
”The next step is to test each individual trolleybus and then, from spring, you'll be able to ride them on line 86. The trolleybuses are autonomous trolleybuses, which means they can run without mains power for at least 20 kilometers”.
The vehicles are 12 meters long and have a carrying capacity of 93 passengers, 32 of them seated.
They also have air conditioning, monitors, a wheelchair ramp and dark-tinted windows to keep the interior cool.
The value of the contract is 70.4 million lei (excluding VAT), non-reimbursable money through the PNRR.
”These are not the only new means of transportation we are purchasing. We have already bought 100 electric buses. By the end of this year, we will install 100 charging stations for them. The contract is worth €73.8 million, of which €52 million are non-reimbursable funds, drawn from the ROP.
”Also with non-reimbursable funds that we obtained at the end of last year, we will purchase another 100 trolleybuses and 79 trams. For both, we attracted over 553.3 million lei. We are now going to do the procurement procedure, establish the prototype and the delivery schedule”, PMB officials say.
