The best 27 specialists of the distribution operator Delgaz Grid in nine competition categories, along with three students from partner technical high schools, were awarded at the company stage of the professional competition „Electrician's Trophy 2026”, held on March 24-26 in Iasi.
After two days of theoretical and practical tests, participants demonstrated their skills in the ten specializations of the competition, confirming the high level of professionalism in the field of electricity distribution. The winners will represent the company at the national round in July, also in Iasi.
Over 120 electricians and engineers from Delgaz Grid took part in the competition, selected through a competition among the approximately 1,000 registered at the mass stage of the Trophy, which took place in February.
Now in its tenth edition, the „Junior Electrician's Trophy”, a competition dedicated to future electricians, this year brought together three students each from the N.V. Karpen Technical College in Bacău, the „Dimitrie Leonida” High School in Iași and the „Samuil Isopescu” Technical College in Suceava.
„In an increasingly energy-dependent world, the role of distribution networks and those who operate them is essential. Performance is not only about results in competitions, but also the day-to-day responsibility to ensure continuity and security of energy supply. Through their professionalism, commitment and willingness to improve, our colleagues demonstrate that excellence is the standard, not the exception. I thank them for their constant effort and wish them every success at the national stage”, said Cristian Ifrim, Deputy CEO of Delgaz Grid.
Delgaz Grid's electricians competed in seven specializations: transformer substation operation, medium and low voltage network operation, PRAM (protection and automation), electricity measurement, installation and repair of 110 KV and medium voltage primary equipment in transformer substations, installation and repair of medium and low voltage installations (transformer substations, overhead and underground power lines), defectoscopy of medium and low voltage underground power lines, and engineers in the section of the same name and in the section of distribution energy dispatcher.
Seven electricians from Suceava, five from Bacău, four from Iași, three from Botoșani and one each from Neamț and Vaslui climbed the podium to the applause of their colleagues.
In the specialization of Energy Distribution Dispatcher, the first and second places went to Iasi, and the third place went to Suceava.
In the engineering section, first and second places went to Suceava and third place to Iasi.
In the Junior Electrician's Trophy, the first and second places were won by N.V. Karpen Technical College from Bacău and the third place by „Dimitrie Leonida” High School from Iasi.
As every year, manufacturers of equipment, materials, devices and tools, specific measuring devices, as well as electrical network construction companies with which we collaborate, were present at the event with exhibition stands.
„The ”Electrician's Trophy" is a traditional event, probably the longest-running and largest professional competition in Romania. The 49-year history of the competition began in 1977 and is closely linked to Moldova and the city of Iasi, where the first edition of the competition took place.
