The stake in the battle in the energy sector is to clean house and we need to put an end to land and connection approval brokers, in the interest of serious investors who had no room and still have no room, stated on Wednesday, during the fifth edition of the Solar Energy Bucharest Summit, the advisor to the Prime Minister of Romania, Sebastian Burduja, according to Agerpres.
„I remember from the very beginning of my mandate in 2023, I said exactly these things: we have to put an end to the land and ATR samsters for the sake of serious investors, who had no place and have no place, much less today, because of what happened in January 2024. There was a bill in the Senate Industry Committee, we discussed it, we agreed to it, and it included then guarantees per megawatt at a reasonable level so that we would clean up the market and serious investors would stay. Several parties objected then and we were not able to move forward with that project. You have to ask Transelectrica, who initially, at a technical level, said it was the right idea. Later on, they disagreed... and I think you have to ask ANRE. I'm not targeting anyone in particular, but I know very well who was at those discussions and what their positions were. If that law was made then, in January 2024, we wouldn't have tens of thousands of megawatts in ATRs that had been released in the last two years and we would have a market for investors to enter. So it's a question of will,” Burduja said.
He added that the way the energy sector is governed and administered is very important, „which either rewards those who are serious (...) or we remain with the Dâmbovița [local/provincial] politics based on games and schemes.”.
„We are not the only country facing this problem. Other states, Spain for example, have found a solution to allow access to the network for serious investors, and for land speculators to go about their business. I am convinced that a cleanup will happen very soon. The stake in this battle, which is not about one person or another, is about a way of governing, of managing the country, including the energy sector, which either rewards serious people and supports investors who do the job, or remains with the outdated policy, based on games and schemes,” Sebastian Burduja emphasized.
The Employers' Organization of Renewable Energy Producers in Romania – PATRES and Creative Communications are organizing the fifth edition of the Solar Energy Bucharest Summit, from April 22-23, at the Palace of the Parliament.
