BMW has announced a model range update in spring 2026. The company has revealed that the iX1 eDrive20, iX1 xDrive30, iX2 eDrive20 and iX2 xDrive30 electric crossovers will get silicon carbide power electronics (SiC inverters). This change should improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption in the WLTP combined cycle. In practice, this means that the iX1's range will increase by around 40km, and the manufacturer claims that the iX2 will see similar improvements.
In addition, the iX3 will also receive updates. It will get an option called „AC-Laden Professional”, which allows AC charging at up to 22 kW. Alongside this, a Vehicle-to-Load function will be introduced, allowing the car to power external electrical devices up to 3.7 kW. The iX3 will also be offered in three new body colors.
At the same time, BMW M is adapting the M5 and XM Label models to meet new emissions standards that will come into force in the EU from 2027. The updated technology will debut on the M5 in March 2026 and the XM Label in April.
