PPC Blue Romania, part of the PPC group in Romania, has won the tender organized by 01 April Bucharest Airports National Company, to install 7 ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles at Henri Coandă International Airport, Bucharest. The agreement provides for the commissioning of the stations, each with a power of 200 kW, by June 29 of this year.
The stations will each have two charging points and will be located in the parking lot near the Departures Terminal, offering electric vehicle users a quick and convenient charging solution. The contract, awarded following a tender held through the Romanian Commodity Exchange on March 18, 2026, has a duration of five years.
„We are pleased to contribute to the development of electric mobility infrastructure at such an important location as Otopeni Airport. For us, it is a natural step in expanding the national network and an opportunity to offer electric car users modern, fast, and easily accessible services. We believe that such projects make a difference in the widespread adoption of sustainable transport,” stated Andreea-Dana Popescu, General Manager PPC Blue Romania.
Thus, PPC blue will install modern infrastructure in the North parking lot of Henri Coandă International Airport, consisting of 7 fast-charging stations of 200 kW each, which will serve a total of 14 charging points. The total installed power will be 1.4 MW, with an absorbed power of 1.2 MW, thus ensuring reduced charging times and high user service capacity.
With this project, PPC blue expands its network - one of the largest in Romania - and brings to Otopeni Airport state-of-the-art technology to meet the growing demand for electric mobility solutions. In Romania, PPC blue operates over 1100 charging points in all counties of the country, with a total installed capacity of over 36 MW, doubling not only the number of points, but also the number of fast and ultra-fast charging stations. PPC blue offers integrated electric mobility solutions to residential customers, businesses and public institutions across the country.
The stations will be installed and commissioned by June 29th at the latest, a deadline that reflects the company's commitment to the rapid and efficient implementation of the project.
In 2026, PPC blue's investments will follow the same strategic direction: integrating electric mobility into everyday life as well as during long journeys. Thus PPC blue will pursue infrastructure development in three complementary directions: densification of the charging network in areas where people already spend their time (retail, business districts, areas of interest, campuses, industrial parks and tourist areas), where charging becomes a natural part of daily activity, not a dedicated stop; investment in a balanced infrastructure through fast transit stations, but also AC charging in residential and neighborhood areas to support the concept of slow living and reduce pressure on the grid. And last but not least, integration with green energy and storage solutions so that infrastructure becomes an active element in the energy ecosystem, not just a point of consumption.
The PPC blue app can be downloaded from the AppStore or Google Play. It allows users to view available charging stations and choose charging services that suit their needs (subscriptions or Charge & Pay). Through the app, users can organize their trips and utilize both PPC blue charging stations in Romania and Greece. In fact, PPC Blue Romania is the first company in the country to offer customers charging subscriptions with included units (1 unit = 1 kWh), also providing free towing service. Depending on consumption level, there are three options: PPC blueLite (60 included charging units), PPC bluePlus (120 included charging units), and PPC blueMax (200 included charging units). Customers can charge using the mobile app or an RFID card linked to their active profile.
Drivers benefit from a technical assistance service with support provided by a dedicated team, available 24/7, at the number 0800 801 158.
PPC blue is installing charging infrastructure in Romania in shopping centers, supermarkets, restaurants and hotels that want to attract electric car users, as well as in public spaces provided by municipalities interested in improving air quality by encouraging electric mobility.
In 2025, drivers who charged their electric cars at PPC blue stations drove a total of over 18,000,000 km, the equivalent of 453 laps around the Earth, with an average consumption of 0.20 kWh per km. Following their charging sessions, they contributed to an annual reduction of over 2,945 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
