Road hauliers have become increasingly competitive in Western Europe, with some 60,000 trucks out of the 180,000 trucks of Romanian companies currently operating in developed markets such as Germany, France, Italy or Spain, where demand for logistics services remains high. At the same time, the elimination of time lost at the border and the fluidization of logistical operations have contributed to the more than 1 billion euro in extra surplus in the balance of transport in the first 11 months of last year, said UNTRR president Radu Dinescu, at the ZF Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are in the area of countries with large territories and strong economies that need a lot of logistics and transportation. Romanian hauliers who do this work have learned, qualified and have very good equipment. In other words, they have acquired state-of-the-art equipment so that they can have a say on the market there<\/p>said Radu Dinescu, UNTRR Secretary General, on ZF Live.<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, Romania's entry into the Schengen road Schengen last January had a direct impact on the transportation industry, one of the largest contributors to the economy's services exports. NBR data show that in the first 11 months of 2025, transportation generated a surplus of almost \u20ac5.6 bn in the services balance, more than \u20ac1 bn more than in the same period in 2024.<\/strong> A significant part of this advance also comes from the elimination of time lost at the border and from the streamlining of logistical operations. Poland is ahead of Romania in the export of transport services, with volumes three to four times higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
