PPC Renewables Romania, the largest private investor in renewable energy in Romania, continues the development of its hybrid capacity portfolio and will build a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 60 MW | 120 MWh within the Zephyr 1 (CEE T\u00e2rgu\u0219or) project. The total value of the project is 129.9 million lei, of which 14.36 million lei will be covered by European financing through the Modernization Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project continues PPC Renewables Romania's plan to expand its renewable energy portfolio with storage projects that can actively contribute to system stability through the predictable generation profile provided by battery electricity storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the third storage project announced by PPC Renewables Romania and marks the acceleration of the company's storage portfolio development. Within this year, PPC Renewables Romania plans to add new storage capacities and is rapidly advancing in this segment, alongside the expansion of renewable energy production, as it approaches the 2 GW threshold in installed capacity in Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Located in the South-East Region, UAT Nicolae B\u0103lcescu, Constan\u021ba County, the BESS system will be implemented within the Zephyr 1 wind farm (CEE T\u00e2rgu\u0219or), which comprises 52 turbines with a total installed capacity of 120 MW. In the same area, the two wind farms T\u00e2rgu\u0219or and Nicolae B\u0103lcescu T\u00e2rgu\u0219or, also known as Zephyr 1 and Zephyr 2, have a total of 78 wind turbines, with a total installed capacity of 180 MW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to developing the storage system, the project involves the construction of all necessary building and infrastructure elements, the development of access roads and pathways, the fencing of the site, the implementation of safety and monitoring lighting systems, as well as the arrangement of the area for operation, maintenance, and site organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project benefits from financing through the Modernization Fund \u2013 Support for investments in the development of electricity storage capacities (batteries) connected to an existing renewable energy production facility. The total investment amounts to 129,926,844.35 lei. The maximum amount provided by the Modernization Fund is 11.05% of eligible expenses, amounting to 14,360,696.06 lei, while the amount provided by PPC Renewables Romania is 115,566,148.29 lei.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
