The Banca Transilvania Group started 2026 with positive financial results, growth across all business lines, and consistent commercial activity, confirming its essential role in supporting the economy. Growing profitability, operational efficiency, and an expanding customer base consolidate the position of BT and Banca Transilvania Financial Group (BT Group) as a leader in Romania and Southeastern Europe. The active customer base is approaching 5 million. BT Group's assets reached 227 billion lei.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

BT grows to the size of a regional champion<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201eWe started the year strong, both commercially \u2013 with growth in the number of clients, financing, and transactions \u2013 and by promoting the bank and Romania on international financial markets, from where we attracted a record amount for our country. All of this helps us further support the national economy and the population. The bank's increased activity is reflected both in economies of scale and better costs for clients, but also in the fact that BT is growing to the size of a regional champion, which has the strength to support the country's economy and infrastructure. We look to the future with caution, given internal and external uncertainties, but we continue to have an appetite for financing the economy and developing BT's business.<\/a>\u201d declares \u00d6mer Tetik, General Manager, Banca Transilvania. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, the Group\u2019s net profit for the first quarter was 1.14 billion lei, up 30.11% from the same period last year (Q1 2026 vs. Q1 2025). Banca Transilvania accounted for 83.1% of the BT Group\u2019s total profit. Assets reached 227 billion lei, a scale that allows the BT Group to support major projects in the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BT Group's gross loans and receivables from financial leasing contracts reached RON 115.9 billion amid increased demand for financing from companies and the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gross loans-to-deposits ratio stands at 65.91% as of the third quarter, up 1.2 percentage points from the end of last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transilvania Bank Performance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

BT reported a net profit of 950.2 million lei in the first quarter, up 25.61% compared to Q1 2025. The increase in profit was driven by strong operating revenue growth and the continued low cost of risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bank's assets reached 212.9 billion lei, an increase of 1.21% compared to December 31, 2025. This trend reflects the bank's ability to support the economy even during difficult times.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Positive dynamics of business activity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customer deposits showed a positive trend, reaching 169.5 billion lei as of March 31, 2026, up 0.41% from the end of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.5 billion lei is the value of loans granted to individuals in Q1 2026 to support their access to loans for housing and other personal projects. Approximately 64.2 billion lei is the outstanding balance of gross loans granted to businesses, up 2.51% quarter-on-quarter compared to December 31, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financing, capital & risk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gross loans-to-deposits ratio stands at 63.51% as of the third quarter, up by approximately 1 percentage point from the end of last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The non-performing loan ratio (according to the EBA) stands at 2.551%, a level that reflects the quality of the portfolio and the bank\u2019s prudent risk policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solvency ratio stands at 20.65%, confirming BT\u2019s strong capital position and its ability to support growth in lending and strategic investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost of risk remains low at 0.71%, supported by the quality of the portfolio and prudent risk policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The growth in Banca Transilvania\u2019s operating activity is reflected in its key revenue indicators and confirms the diversification of its revenue sources and the efficiency of its business model: net interest income is up 8.71% quarter-on-quarter compared to Q1 2025, and net fee and commission income is up 12.91% YoY compared to Q1 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bank's operational efficiency ratio reached 48.121% in Q1 2026, including the impact of the turnover tax. The return on equity (ROE) was 19.541% in Q1 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bank is approaching the threshold of 5 million active customers. In the first three months of the year, BT continued to attract new customers at a sustained pace, with nearly 140,000 people and companies becoming clients of the bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
