Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan discussed with US officials in Washington about strengthening Romania's energy security and told them that ”Romania urgently needs more banded energy”.

„I'm in Washington, D.C., where I've been welcomed and treated as a fellow decision-maker. In meetings with US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and US Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, we discussed as equals how to build real energy power: stable capacities, big projects, clear timelines and execution without excuses. Romania is seen as a strategic player in the region and I put on the table exactly what matters: concrete solutions, not slogans. My message was firm: Romania urgently needs more energy in the band”, wrote Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan in a post quoted by Agerpres.

He emphasized that in the last decade Romania has lost about 7,000 MW of production, and the consequences can be seen in the competitiveness of the economy and in the pressure on prices.

„I don't sell illusions. If you want strong industry and lower bills, you need stable, controllable generation: nuclear and natural gas. The latest storms in the US and Romania have confirmed the same simple truth: at peak times, when consumption explodes, the system can only cope with energy that does not depend on chance. This is why we have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation on nuclear and gas and to put Romania at the center of the regional energy architecture, as a provider of stability, not as a spectator”said Ivan.

In his opinion, Neptun Deep, Cernavodă and Doicești are the projects that change Romania's status, being treated as strategic objectives for the country.

„We are part of the Friends of Nuclear and support the expansion of European cooperation through a Friends of Gas format. The direction is clear and I am committed to it: to be strong, you have to produce more energy and fundamentally more energy in band. Decisions are being made now. Neptun Deep, Cernavodă and Doicești are projects that are changing Romania's status. I treat them as strategic objectives for the country: energy security for the region and the basis for the economy of the future. Because in the age of AI, electricity is directly transformed into intelligence, into computing power, investment and competitive advantage„, the Energy Minister said.

According to the source, the partnership with the United States is key to technology, funding and speed of execution. „I am building this bridge with mutual respect and measurable results. Romania has the chance to become a regional leader in energy, and I am working to make this a reality”, wrote Bogdan Ivan on social media.
