BYD wants to conquer the Romanian market with a well-equipped and good-looking SUV, a plug-in hybrid with a 1,016-kilometer range, which comes at an incredibly low price. It is the ninth model offered by BYD in Romania. The company reached 4.6 million cars sold globally last year. Of those, 3.2 million were electric cars, surpassing Tesla. Already a recognized brand, some 1.05 million electric and hybrid cars were sold outside China. All models are tested and awarded 5 stars in Euro NCAP, according to Computerblog.
The BYD Sealion 5 DM-i is envisioned as an SUV that brings the price of a combustion engine but the technology of an electric car, all with a hybrid engine. The DM-i is the hybrid platform, basically a more electric-oriented PHEV. It has an average fuel economy of 2.1 liters per hundred kilometers in dual mode.
The model measures 4738 mm long, 1860 mm wide, 1710 mm high, and has a relatively long wheelbase of 2712 mm, which offers excellent rear legroom.
