Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania S.A. (DEER) has signed an important financing contract from European funds, totaling 97,896,051.52 lei, for the implementation of the project „Modernization of DEER's remote control system. Implementation of ADMS system,” within the framework of the Sustainable Development Program – Priority 4 – Action 4.5 „Smart energy systems and grids.”.

The project represents a strategic investment aimed at modernizing the electricity distribution network's operating systems by implementing an advanced ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) solution across the company's entire area of responsibility, specifically in the 18 counties where DEER provides distribution services.

Through this investment, DEER will modernize and expand the functionalities of the SCADA system, contributing to increased visibility and control over the network, as well as to improved quality of services offered to users.

The implementation of the ADMS system brings significant benefits in the context of the energy transition, facilitating the increased integration of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, into the distribution network. At the same time, the system allows for more efficient management of the variability of production from renewable sources, optimization of energy flows, and increased network capacity to accommodate new producers.

Mihaela Rodica Suciu, Director General of DEER, emphasized that: „This project represents an essential step in the digitalization process of the distribution network and in its transformation into a smart infrastructure, capable of responding to the challenges of the energy transition. By implementing the ADMS system, we significantly increase the network's monitoring and control capacity, improve the quality of services offered to users, and support the integration of renewable sources. Investments in technology, along with the competence of our team, are fundamental to building a modern, secure, and sustainable energy system.”

The project also contributes to increasing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, supporting national and European decarbonization goals for the energy sector. By developing smart grids capable of dynamically responding to the demands of consumers and prosumers, DEER strengthens its role in transforming Romania's energy infrastructure.

The value of the non-reimbursable funding is composed of 83,211,643.79 lei from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and 14,684,407.73 lei from the national budget, through the Sustainable Development Program.

Signing this contract represents an essential step in the digitalization and modernization process of the distribution network, contributing to increased infrastructure reliability and the provision of more efficient, secure services that are adapted to users' future requirements.
