The market for long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for renewable energy continues to gain ground in Romania, amid new wind and photovoltaic projects under development and growing interest from companies in green energy. Our country follows the sustained pace of PPP contracting,  around 500 MW of contracted capacity in 2025.

These developments will be at the center of discussions at the 6-Romanian Green PPA conference, The event will bring together some 200 participants - renewable project developers, investors, energy suppliers, consultants and large industrial consumers - at a time when PPAs are becoming an increasingly important tool for financing green energy projects and stabilizing energy costs.

According to Pexapark representatives present at the event, in 2025, the main corporate buyer segments in Europe were information technology, with 32% of total PPPs, consumer goods, with 15%, and transportation, with 13%. Technology and data center operators are expected to continue to increase their share of the PPA market, as they will be on stage at the conference to discuss data center procurement mechanisms.

This year's edition brings on stage specialists directly involved in renewable project development, energy trading and structuring long-term contracts. Speakers will address topics that allow participants to take informed decisions in a rapidly evolving market, from the current structure of the energy market and the available contracting mechanisms to co-guarantee for consumers and solutions that can facilitate the signing of PPA contracts. These financial mechanisms will be presented by EIB (European Investment Bank) representative Nikolay Petrov during the opening panel of the event.

Discussions will also include legislative news relevant for the market and trends in the structure of these contracts, in the context of the emergence of new energy consumption centers. In parallel, Romania's accession as AIB observer member brings some optimism to the market, opening up the prospect of integration of the Romanian system of guarantees of origin into the European market and possible cross-border transactions from 2027.

The conference agenda reflects the maturation of the local market and moves the discussion from the legislative framework to how contracts are implemented in practice. Participants will analyze the evolution of PPA models, the role of suppliers and traders in facilitating these agreements, and how companies can build effective green power procurement strategies in a context of high price volatility.

This year's conference Romanian Green PPA is supported by Monsson Trading, Suciu Partners, G Energy Solutions, Voltlink, Econergy, Nano Energies, Bursa Română de Mărfuri, Enery and R.Power, companies actively involved in developing the energy market and supporting investments in renewable projects in Romania.

The event is supported by strategic partners PATRES (Employers' Organization of Producers of Energy from Renewable Sources in Romania), AMRCR (Association of Large Commercial Networks in Romania), CIROM (Romanian Cement Industry Employers' Association) and AFEER (Association of Electricity Suppliers in Romania).
