ISW (Interactive Software), a Romanian-owned software technology company and a market leader in the Land Forces segment, announces it has surpassed the threshold of 50 command posts equipped with command and control software platforms delivered to the Romanian Army and over 4,000 operational command and control workstations on tactical platforms, in command posts, and for the individual soldier. In addition to these, ISW has five major programs underway in partnership with global integrators such as GDELS, L3Harris, Otokar, and Leonardo DRS, alongside two research and development programs funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF).
All these systems run on the BC2A® suite, ISW's flagship product, developed entirely in Romania, with source code and intellectual property rights owned by the company. BC2A® is operational at the Ministry of National Defense level, from the dismounted soldier to the joint commands, and is continuously aligned with NATO standards and the Federated Mission Networking (FMN) concept.

Continued NATO presence since 2007
ISW has participated uninterruptedly in the CWIX (Coalition Warrior Interoperability eXercise) interoperability exercise since 2007. This year marks the 17th consecutive participation. At CWIX 2025, the Romanian capability equipped with BC2A® operated as a Multinational Corps in the Land Force Focus Area operational evaluation exercises, and the BC2A® suite was validated for FMN Spiral 3 and 4 for Land C2 information exchange, for MIP 4 and Friendly Force Tracking services. BC2A® is listed in NATO records as Romania's national command and control solution.
Platformele software C2 au fost desfășurate operațional pentru prima oară la nivel comandamente operaționale cu ocazia exercițiului pentru certificarea NATO MNC-SE (Defender 2021). In prezent, Suita BC2A® este omniprezentă la exerciții precum Cetatea, Dacica, Getica (2020), Histria (2022), EuropeDefender 2023, etc.
Two steps towards Europe: industrial partnerships and EDF
Dincolo de piața națională, ISW activează în două programe majore de cercetare-dezvoltare finanțate de Comisia Europeană, prin European Defence Fund. Ambele programe reunesc entități din peste 12 tari și se concentrează pe dezvoltarea următoarei generații de vehicule blindate de luptă europene. ISW contribuie la dezvoltarea soluției BMS (Battle Management System).
La nivel industrial, ISW colaborează cu integratori de prim rang: GDELS-Romania (Piranha 5), L3Harris (JLTV, ABRAMS), Leonardo DRS (ABRAMS) si Otokar (4×4 Cobra II).
Competitive advantage: NATO rigor, local specificity, in-country language support
BC2A is designed based on the specifications of existing weapon systems and sensors within the MOD's C4ISR architecture. The company owns the source code and intellectual property rights to the product, which means a secure supply chain for the entire lifecycle, continuous development capability for new sensors, weapon systems, and AI-based solutions, plus specialized training, technical support, and maintenance services in Romanian.
BC2A Application Suite it is present in essential programs for the digitalization of the Land Forces and for the integration of NATO capabilities. Among the completed or ongoing projects are:
● PIRANHA 5 (2020–2028): peste 200 de sisteme complete de comandă-control C2 integrate pe vehiculele blindate, livrate prin GDELS Mowag către MApN. Unul dintre cele mai complexe proiecte de integrare C4I la nivel național și o referință pentru digitalizarea Forțelor Terestre.
● JLTV / OSHKOSH (2022–2025): peste 120 de sisteme C2 integrate pe Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, livrate prin L3Harris către MApN.
● 4×4 Cobra II/Otokar (2024-2029): peste 300 de sisteme C2 integrate pe vehiculul Cobra II, livrate prin Otokar către MApN.
● ABRAMS M1A2 (2025–2027): peste 50 de sisteme C2 și integrări de senzori pentru tancul ABRAMS M1A2 ce va intra în dotarea Armatei Române.
● K9 Howitzers (2025–2029): peste 50 de sisteme integrate C4I pentru programul de obuziere autopropulsate.
● Acord Cadru SMFT (2022–2024): peste 40 de platforme software C2 de comandament livrate, din 90 contractate, pentru puncte de comandă, în baza acordului-cadru atribuit de MApN în urma unei competiții internaționale de achiziție publică.
● MCIS-A: Platforme software C2 pentru 3 puncte de comandă de tip Battalion, 5 puncte FOB și peste 50 de posturi de lucru.
● SPIKE: peste 300 de platforme software C2 pentru luptătorul debarcat, integrate cu sistemele de armă.
● SICIB, CBRN, IFV: Platforme software pentru puncte de comandă batalion, soluții CBRN integrate cu BC2A, sisteme C2 pentru platforme mobile.
