US giant Meta has started testing a dedicated social networking app where users can post only video content generated with the help of artificial intelligence, according to News.ro.
The upcoming app is to become the new home of the Vibes network, which launched in September and until now has been hosted on the company's artificial intelligence app Meta AI.
The Vibes app will look a lot like TikTok, except that short, vertical videos will be generated by AI instead of being filmed and edited entirely by humans.
A dedicated and properly promoted app from the US company will allow Vibes to compete with Sora, the AI-generated video social network launched by OpenAI.
Meta says that the idea of creating a dedicated app for Vibes came after the success it enjoyed while it existed in the Meta AI app, but doesn't provide figures to back up the claims.
A dedicated app will provide access to a stream of artificial video content and a „more focused experience” free of other non-social network elements.
The news comes as Meta is considering launching subscriptions for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, with AI among the potential premium features.
