E-Infra President Teofil Mureșan announced investments of 900 million euros by 2030 in electricity generation and storage.
„Our group made own investments, mainly in power generation and storage, of €500 million last year; we will have budgets of €250 million in 2026 and €650 million in 2027-2029. The storage capacity of Nova Power & Gas, which holds the No. 1 position in this field in Romania, is 300 MW connected to the grid, with 640 MWh, and by the end of the year we will reach 1,000 MWh, with 450 MW.
”In the production area, we have plants in operation with 500 MW of installed capacity, we will be commissioning this year another gas-fired power plant at Câmpia Turzii, planned at 160 MW. By 2029 we will have a new mixed site, gas-fired power plants and storage in Roșiori (Satu Mare county), so that we will reach an installed capacity of 1,400 MW”, Teofil Mureșan said, quoted by TransilvaniaBusiness.
Mureșan also said that the Doicești small nuclear reactors project will soon ”finish the detailed design, and then the cost estimate will be made”.
”These small modular reactors have been in operation since the 1950s on aircraft carriers and submarines without a single accident, all over the world, and are much easier to manage. Now they are looking for funding sources because the state and SNN will not put all the money. Our group will put money into the project up to the ‘ready to build’ stage. Then we will pull out as larger investors come in, as stipulated in the articles of incorporation. The solution is EU grants, similar to those in the renewables sector,” Mureșan added.
