The draft allowing authorized economic operators to carry out waste management activities has been adopted by the Parliament, announced the Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, Diana Buzoianu.

”The bill that I initiated a year ago in Parliament on the publication of the list of all economic operators authorized to carry out waste management activities has just passed!

The National Agency for the Environment and Protected Areas will publish, on its own website, the updated list of all economic operators authorized for waste management activities. The list will include the name of the economic operator, the tax code, the type of activities authorized and the full environmental permit”, Diana Buzoianu wrote on Facebook.

The list will be updated within 10 working days of any changes.

”Transparency in terms of waste management and authorized operators is extremely important and I am glad that today the Parliament has adopted the bill I initiated last year. In a country where people are losing years of their lives because of pollution, it is extremely important to have real transparency of all environmental permits, which is why I have made this a priority since taking office.

”So I am glad to be able to say that the ministry has already started to publish some of this information even without the bill. After today's adoption of the draft law we will increase the standards of transparency. At the same time, we are continuing the fight against the waste mafia, not only because of the extensive controls and sanctions, but also because of other measures such as scanning trucks entering the country with illegal waste or using drones for on-the-ground actions”said Buzoianu.
