A Danish startup, counting a Romanian entrepreneur among its founders, recently announced it has secured $20 million in funding from major international investment funds, according to StartUpCafé.

AI startup spektr announced in a statement that it has secured a $20 million Series A funding round, led by American fund NEA (New Enterprise Associates), with the participation of existing investors such as Northzone, Seedcamp, PSV Tech, and others.

The funds will be used to expand the Spektr compliance platform and to accelerate its global adoption among financial institutions.

The startup Spektr was founded in 2023, in Copenhagen, by Mikkel Skarnager (CEO), Jan-Erik Wagner, Jeremy Joly, alongside Ciprian Florescu (CTO).

The Romanian engineer Ciprian Florescu graduated from the Faculty of Computer Science at „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași (2012–2015), and subsequently completed a master's program at the University of Copenhagen (2015–2017).

In Denmark, he initially joined a company, and later co-founded his first startup, HelloFlow, which developed an identity verification technology. The company was sold in 2022 to Trulioo, a global company in the same field.

Launched in 2023, Danish startup Spektr has developed an AI-powered compliance infrastructure platform for banks and fintech companies. The platform uses networks of specialized AI agents to automate manual work in KYC (Know Your Customer) and KYB (Know Your Business) processes, from onboarding to continuous monitoring.

This allows compliance teams in financial institutions to focus on decision-making rather than data collection.
