Household and non-household electricity consumers will receive messages from operators when they approach the monthly consumption specified in the signed agreement, following the model practiced by the telecom industry, is the plan announced for the first time by ANRE president George Niculescu at the Profit.ro Marathon.
„This is the first time I have put this idea in the public domain. We are working on an amendment, we want suppliers to notify consumers when energy consumption approaches 80% in the consumption agreement”said the president of ANRE. He said that the idea is similar to that of telephone operators, who let us know when we are ready to exceed the minutes, the amount of data available for roaming, etc.
„It can be a message, warning, sms, sms, mail or on the app to let us know that we are, on the 15th of the month, for example close to the consumption of the convention”said Niculescu. According to the president of ANRE, the intention is that this measure will be implemented as early as 2026, and the decision to continue to consume at the same rate or to optimize their consumption is up to the customer. For this measure to be implemented at a general level, it is necessary for all these places of consumption to be equipped with smart meters, but in Romania there are about 10 million users and only 3.5 million smart meters installed, writes Profit.ro.
